Walk in St. Petersburg, Russia. The Shuvalov estate is located in the Shubalovsky park.
At one time, Shubalovsky Park was not inferior in beauty to Peterhof and Catherine Park. However, now it is more abandoned, but its amazing nature and beautiful buildings have survived to this day.
The history of the park begins in 1746, when Pyotr Shvalov was awarded the title of count. At the same time, he was given a plot for the Pargolovsky estate, and later a park with an area of 142 hectares appeared.
The second stage of the formation of the park dates back to the time when Countess Varvara Petrovna, the wife of Pavel Petrovich Shuvalov, owned the land. After the death of her husband, she leaves Russia and marries Adolphe Polier. The couple decide to return to real estate and hire P. Erler to create the Upper Landscape Park. But Polier dies four years later, the consoling widow builds a basement, and she sits all day in her husband's grave.
The last owner of the land was Elizaveta Andreevna Vorontsova-Dashkova nee Shuvalov. It was then that the foundation stone of the royal palace began, designed by S. Krichinsky.
Construction began shortly before the First World War, so it lasted a long time and was completed already under Soviet rule. For this reason, the palace did not serve its purpose. It used to be a rest stop, but now it is a research laboratory.
Since 1991, Svalov Park has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Yellow Cottage:
The yellow dacha is perhaps one of the most picturesque buildings in the Shubalovsky park. Surrounded by thickets, it is located at the entrance to the property. The dacha was built at the end of the 19th century by Mesmakher for his brother. The building itself consists of two floors with many turrets, balconies, ledges and spiers. Externally, the building resembles a Russian wooden tower. Perhaps for this reason the second name is the second name of the villa - the fairytale tower.
