Petrogradsky Island (aka Petrograsky District, and Petrograd Side) is a part of the historic city center of St Petersburg.

Even though the history of Petrogradsky begins from Peter The Great times in early 1700’s, current look and feel Petrogradsky district got only in the beginning of 20th century. After Petrogradsky was connected to the Central district of St Petersburg with Trinity (Troitsky) Bridge in 1903.That’s when Petrogradsky, mostly an industrial district of St Petersburg, turned into the most modern area of Russian Empire (pre-Revolutionary Russia). Though even in the Soviet times, Petrogradsky continued to follow for the best architectural trends.So in Petrogradsky classicism in architecture meets Neo-Renaissance, eclecticism, art nouveau and early monumental Soviet neoclassicism.
